The highest court in Canada is the Supreme Court of Canada. It is the final court of appeal in the Canadian judicial system. Established in 1875, it is responsible for deciding legal issues of public importance and contributes to the development of all branches of law applicable in Canada. The SCC is the only bilingual and bijural supreme court in the world. They work to decide cases in both English and French and from both common law and civil law.
